The taco salad looked small, but it was delicious and very filling. Service was great! Waitress was very attentive. The fish and chips were tasty, but the fish could have been crispier. The breading was no crisp and a little rubbery, but the flavor was good. Tartar sauce was excellent. We stop here to eat most trips on our way to Red River.

If you’re tired of hotels where you “sleep” and “mind your business,” congratulations—you’ve found the St. James. This place doesn’t just give haunted vibes. It gives full-contact paranormal energy like it’s trying to win a championship. I walked into my room and instantly felt the atmosphere shift. Not in a dangerous way—more like the building whispered, “Welcome, contestant.” By 11:07 PM I had already texted three people my last known location. By midnight, the shadows were longer than they had any physical right to be. By 12:43 AM, I had formed an alliance with a lamp. At 1 AM, something made a noise that can only be described as “the sound a ghost makes when it pays taxes.” At 1:26 AM, my water bottle rolled across the table entirely on its own. I told myself it was “air currents,” but we both know that was a lie. At 2:14 AM, I tried to sleep. The room said no. At 2:27, I tried again. The room said, “Let’s talk about your childhood instead.” By 3 AM, I had: • rearranged the furniture for “spiritual feng shui,” • whispered “please stop” into the darkness, • and prayed to every religion just to cover my bases. At 3:45 AM, the entire building went silent. Not normal silence. The kind of silence that feels like it has a face. At 4:02, I swear my suitcase moved an inch. I didn’t argue. I let it have its space. By 4:19 AM, I was pacing the room in circles like I was rehearsing a monologue for a horror movie I did NOT audition for. My reflection in the mirror looked like it was trying to warn me. By 5 AM, I was in full fight-or-flight-or-faint mode. I chose “freeze,” mostly because my knees were too tired to run. When the sun finally came up, I grabbed my bags, whispered “no hard feelings” to whatever heard me, and left that room with the speed and determination of someone who’d just survived an emotional disaster movie. And the crazy part? I LOVED every unhinged, psychologically destabilizing second of it. This hotel is not just a stay—it’s a saga. A journey. A character arc. Five stars, no question. If you want to experience history, mystery, and your own mental decline all in one night, the St. James Hotel delivers like no other. I’ll be back. After a nap. And therapy.

Amazing, and friendly staff, very accommodating! We've been coming here for 20 years and we've always stayed in one of the historic rooms, our favorite is the Waite Phillips room. I always wish this establishment well, the history is amazing!

Staff are super friendly, restaurant has super tasty foods. The rooms are charming and unique and most importantly, comfortable! Then, of course, there are the ghosts!

I was just passing through when I stopped to check out the hotel and beautiful history. As soon as I pulled up I snapped a photo of the side door and windows. After getting home and reviewing the photos I noticed a figure in the second floor window. Please let me know who this room is dedicated to and if you can see what I see. Also, absolutely loved the craft of the hotel.

I've been here twice. I believe it's haunted. There's a ghost named TJ when I was kid I teased him when I went back the 2nd time he slammed a door onto me. It's very old and authentic but an interesting place to stay if you like paranormal

What an incredible stay! We recently stayed two nights in the Wyatt Earp room and had an amazing experience! The St. James Hotel is truly a hidden gem. The history, charm, and atmosphere are incredible, and the staff were all top notch. We ate several meals in the hotel restaurant and every single dish was delicious. You can really tell they take pride in everything they do here. The St. James Hotel is officially our new favorite place to stay, and we can’t wait to come back. Jorts N Fishin approved!

Had lunch there today - first time since new owners. The food was REALLY GOOD!!!! Our server, Michelle, was a breath of fresh air. The only thing I would have loved to see was green chili bits in the Adult Mac n Cheese; otherwise, EXCEPTIONAL! So glad they are open!!!!
